Guest-Still the Mind

Bio -Still The Mind are a four-piece Rock band from Newton Abbot, Devon.

The band consists of:
Matt Palfreman - Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Karl O'Neill - Lead Guitar
Joe Warriner - Bass
Phil Hallwood - Drums

The band formed in late 2012 under the name 'Soulshine' when Matt decided to give up the Hampshire singer-songwriter circuit and move home, longtime friend Joe had recently left his Reggae band and was looking to start a new project, the two started writing songs together and eventually convinced Phil to join on drums after performing at a local open mic night. The trio were later joined by Karl in early 2013 to complete the lineup.
The band has developed a local following and survived a 6 month departure from Joe, who later decided to return. It was during this absence that the band realised they all relied heavily on each other in the creation of their sound. Upon Joe's return the band changed it's name to 'Still The Mind', named after a book on meditation by Alan Watts, a philosopher and writer that they are all heavily influenced by.
Still The Mind continues to grow and evolve their own unique sound..

About

Formed in April 2012, Eurasianeyes are a synth duo consisting of long-time friends Mel Bell and Paul Russell. Due to favourable fan responses from their YouTube releases, that following year the band produced their debut EP, “Silent Cries”. They have developed their own style of classic synth music with a modern twist. A mixture of strong synth arpeggio’s along with electronic bass lines, addictive melodies and powerful vocals make Eurasianeyes an exciting prospect within the current synth scene

Sound Production

Mel and Paul are both actively involved in writing the Eurasianeyes tracks. They described the development and production of the tracks as a “team effort”. To date they have worked with producer Geoff Pinckney who mixes and adds additional production to the tracks.

Reviews

The Electricity Club (TEC) recently wrote a piece introducing Eurasianeyes. They quoted:

“EURASIANEYES are definitely on the right road to making a name for themselves. Having shown consistency with their music and utilised classic monochromatic imagery to promote their brand, they are certainly an act to watch out for”.

Us & We
Mono
6 April 2015

Lead Tracks: Lanterns, Sunday

Jordan Doverspike, Evan Doverspike and Aaron Doverspike are brothers based in California who write and perform captivating dream pop they describe as "clean and unadulterated".

Their EP, the beautifully atmospheric 'Mono' was recorded in their home studio and produced by Chad Marshman over the course of several weeks.  Taking a collaborative approach, the brothers found that some tracks came more easily than others, but the advantage of recording from a home studio meant that they could act immediately whenever inspiration struck.

'Mono' is a fluid collection of songs featuring enigmatic sounds and vocal harmonies that ebb and flow, with each track differing in tone.  The upbeat opening track 'Lanterns' is perfectly juxtaposed with the ethereal and climactic 'Sunday'. Third track 'Free is ominously somber whereas closing track 'Alive' ends the EP on an optimistic note.

"This seraphs song envelops us with a sense so cold it burns."
Danny Davenport

like cleansing your ears with a new sound that wipes away the stress. Its cryptic, its atmospheric, its quite fantastic, to be honest.
CityScope Blog

Sunday is a lush synth-driven glide with a nifty modern take on some soft-focus 80s production. Call it chillwave, call it synthwave, call it what you want, itll still sooth your soul just as well whichever way.
Record Rewind Play

"Wondrous and dreamy synth-pop with exceptional vocals so mirage-like in quality that your perceptions will be happily bewildered."
Raw Ramp

Graces unassuming nature belies a tremendous talent. Her voice and melodies take you away from the world, into an ether of loveliness and calm.
Catrin Griffiths, BBC Radio Cardiff

Some of the bands appearing on The 2Ube and The 2Ube Extra have already been featured by regional and national media, others are ready to be discovered; all are incredibly talented, innovative and exciting prospects.

ABOUT THE 2UBE:

There is still a shortage of live music on our terrestrial screens so something like The 2Ube live from LIPA is a fabulous idea, not only does it give the students real industry skills in producing live Television but also offers a platform for emerging music to get seen by a wider audience"
Dave Monks, BBC Radio Merseyside

Based in LIPA Cafe, Liverpool Insititute for the Performing Arts, Mount Street, Liverpool, The 2Ube's weekly showcase takes place each Friday from 5-7pm. The event features a diverse range of bands from across the north west.

Keith Mullin of Liverpool band The Farm is a music lecturer at Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts and the driving force behing The 2Ube. He describes the event as "a bastion of cultural diversity, a great breeding ground for new acts. In many ways it adopts a John Peel approach to music, not specialist or genre specific, in that you never know what youre going to get."

On March 20th, the show will be live streamed on a designated YouTube channel, attracting viewers from all over the world as we gear up for the main event, the annual 2Ube Extra Festival which is set to attract viewers to its live stream from all over the world.

Brand new ShadowIcon EP is more than

‘Smoke & Mirrors’

Innovative double CD release features a 2nd CD of instrumental versions out March 16th

Born and raised in Slovenia, ShadowIcon are a six piece melodic metal band with a heavy impact and a compelling lead female vocalist. Taking elements from metal and thrash, but marrying them to a tuneful vocal and a great appreciation for a stylish groove, the  band serve up a potent blend of heaviness on new EP ‘Smoke and Mirrors’.

Their previous album ‘Empire in Ruins’ picked up excellent reviews around Europe and the US, now they’re back with a brand new EP totalling six epic songs, plus instrumental/karaoke versions so fans can sing along at home.

For a taste of what ShadowIcon are all about, check out their moody video for EP track ‘If I Was the One’ which is out on March 9th.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6DBqpK6Maw

Mixed and mastered by Charlie Bauerfeind and Thomas Geiger (Helloween, Blind Guardian). Designed to build on the new, melodic metal sound of the debut album, the songs are a fusion of different tastes and styles from the band’s three songwriters, all blending into great cocktail of pounding drums, searing guitars and piercing vocals.

With over 50,000 fans already on Facebook, this is a band who have already come a long way. And, judging by this EP, there’s nothing that can stop them any time soon.

The ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ EP is out March 16th.

King Kartel reanimate the glory days of The Jam & The Libertines. Many bands have tried that trick before, but theres something highly appealing about the Manchester bands efforts
RADAR - NME MAGAZINE

Released on CD and as a digital download 'Come At Me Now' is the highly anticipated new single from King Kartel, a band renowned for their infectious indie-infused rock.

Formed in September 2012, King Kartel wasted no time in taking the UK and Ireland by storm through a successful tour to support the release of their debut single Stone Cold Killer, which has now racked up an impressive 29,000 views on Youtube.

The quartet, mainly hailing from Northern Ireland quickly caught the attention of Riggsy from the BBCs Across the Line who gave Stone Cold Killer plenty of airplay, heralding them as hometown heroes, a claim justified by a string of sold out shows in and around Newry.
Riggsy describes the band as having an eye for a hook! and Philly Taggart from BBC Radio 1 says King Kartel produce cheeky guitar pop in the vein of The Fratellis and The Courteeners.

'Come At Me Now' prove the King Kartel aren't afraid to embrace their pop sensibilities which combine with their indie rock sound to create a storming single which is set to raise the profile of the Manchester based band even higher.

Both tracks were written by Hugh McCreesh (King Kartel)
